How 2019 Started

As always, we had an amazing Holiday season thanks to our outstanding customer base and online following! We have a great tradition every year where the whole staff goes out at the end of the year as a team and takes a day off work to enjoy some activities together. Last year, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast and headed out to do some good old shooting and blowing some things up at an undisclosed private location, I'll be sure to post a few pics below! After that we had a great dinner, yes we skipped lunch after expending close to 10,000 rounds of ammo and about 12lbs of explosives. After dinner, we all went out to do some bowling between the younger staff members and the old guys like myself. All good fun, but just so you know, the old guys won! You may wonder why I'm telling you all about what happened on our day out? Well, lets be honest, after reviewing my blog posts from last year, I realized something important. They were all about discounts and new products, and none of them gave you any insight into who we are and what we do and love on a daily basis. My New Years Resolution for the Blog (yes, a bit cliche I know) was to share more of whats important. You're going to find out why we do what we do, and what you need to know that's important when considering buying certain products in the future.

What's Happened Since Then?

We started the New Year with a bang and tons of new products. What products you might ask? Well, if you're asking, it means that you aren't following us on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, and shame on you! Please click on any of the mentioned sources in this paragraph now and go and follow us to keep up to date beyond this blog. Why? Well, lets be honest, we are at the top of the Social Media chain when it comes to new content, and in fact, we pump out new media daily to the tune of 2-3 posts at times! Want to know about the newest wheels available? How about the newest trends in performance parts or racing updates? We even have content that shares info on new vehicles in the market!

Sorry I went off on a tangent there, but honestly I had to ensure you knew what you were missing. We added about 56 new Steering Wheels to our collection at the store. We also added a really cool new Shift knob display that we made and about 52 new shift knobs to our collection of offerings for local walk in customers. I also mentioned wheels before, and we have added about 28 new sets of wheels so far this year, with another 32 due in during the next few weeks. We also added a large display of Nitrous Express, some really cool Lanyards (look out for those on the website later this month), and the newest NRG and other Lug Nuts to our store stock inventory list. The hottest commodity in parts recently has been for the 2016+ Honda Civic and the FRS/FT86/BRZ clients, for which we have in stock now air suspension, coilovers, exhaust systems, intakes, and many other parts.

Whats Coming...

If you didn't know already, February 1st 2019 is our 20th Birthday! How are we going to celebrate? Well to start with, amazing discounts all month, but that's only part of whats on the agenda! Have you heard of Ajodha Concepts? If not, you need to check them out on YouTube by clicking on their name and catching up on some of their amazing videos. We are bringing them to Florida, to create our newest lifestyle content for our own YouTube Channel (which you should also already be subscribing to...hint!). We have a special Casting Call through quite a few of our car clubs and groups already, but we will have a public announcement on our Facebook page next week. Keep tuned in to have your vehicle featured in this epic video if you are local. We are already also scheduled to be at a few meets and car shows this year with our team of sponsored vehicles and always the best selection of products and prices. Look out for an announcement of that schedule later this month as well on Facebook and Instagram.

What You Need To Know!

In this section of the blog, I want to focus monthly on something important you need to know when purchasing a specific product. This months focus is on Air Suspension, and to fill you in on a few important things to know. The main questions that are always asked, and will be addressed here are the following:

  • Why is air suspension the best choice for me?
  • Okay, I've decided that I want to go #LifeonAir whats next, and what do I buy?
  • What's important when choosing what parts to buy?

Let's get right into it, the most commonly asked question is always, why Air Suspension is the best choice? Well, lets look at it this way, if you want to go low (when I say low, I don't mean on a set of lowering springs low, I mean on coilovers maxed out and about to eat pavement 99% of the time) and don't want to be that person who's car is always in the shop due to damage from being too low; air suspension is the best way to go. Air is also comfortable to ride on, providing multiple advantages, including being high enough when needed to clear those speed bumps that would eat your oil pan for breakfast. Another great advantage is being able to park hard every time (don't act like you don't do it...we all do!) and getting a system that has presets built in helps with this a lot, but we can get into that a bit later.

So you've read the last paragraph and thought to yourself, I get to go super high, ride at a decent height, and park hard every time (also my significant other won't constantly ask me for rides to the dentist constantly because the fillings keep falling out) so I'm ready to sign up for this, what do I need? Well, there is a simple answer here, any air system consists of 2 things. You'll need to decide on a brand of air struts, and a brand of management. Air struts are simple, they are just the replacement for your factory shocks with an airbag attached to them replacing where your spring would be. Tons of companies make them, and they have different features like coilovers (stiffness dampening is the major feature that's different between brands). Managements is where it can get complicated because quite a few companies make them, and they come in multiple varieties. We'll break that down as we head into answering the third and last question.

What's important when choosing the parts to buy? Remember how I just said there are varieties of managements, well you'll have to figure out if you want a manual setup (switches like back in the day of the lowriders), or a digital setup. Manual setups are self explanatory, and all of the good ones, come with good quality valves (these are what lets air flow in and out of the system) as well as good quality switches to move up an down. Digital gets a bit more tricky, there are digital systems that have Bluetooth (controlled by your phone, tablet, or smartwatch) and some that don't have this feature and are only controlled with a remote connected by wire to the valve system. Most digital system have presets, so you can have multiple settings to get you adjusted in no time at all. A complete management system also usually includes air lines, fittings, a tank, and a compressor.

Airlines come in two sizes for air systems, 1/4" and 3/8" and the easiest way to describe the difference is to say that the 3/8" being the larger size is more efficient and lets air in and out of the system faster (be aware that most systems charge a premium on this size management kit). Tanks can come in different sizes and varieties as well, from pancake tanks to round cylinders (the most popular) of which there are multiple options to get you enough air storage to power your vehicle with your space restrictions. Compressors are also available in different outputs and range from 360cc to 490cc, they also come in different finishes (chrome or black). You also have the option of adding a second compressor to a system to make things work even faster but note, most systems require a special power harness for this addition. Water Traps are the last major edition to a system I always suggest (although they come with some systems standard) because these units help to automatically remove rust from the tank that builds up over time.

Okay, so now you've got a basic understanding of what's needed to get your car on air! Let us help you to get a system built by emailing us today for more info on your particular vehicle! Checkout the latest walk through video of our retail location below.
